Nancy Raybin is a nationally known leader in the world of philanthropy. She is the immediate past chair of the Giving Institute, the foremost association of fundraising firms in the country. The Giving Institute educates and engages members in the ethical delivery of counsel and related services to nonprofit organizations through research, advocacy and best practices.

Nancy has also chaired Giving USA Foundation which publishes Giving USA, the oldest and most comprehensive annual report on philanthropy. For 50 years, it has documented the data and trends in charitable giving. Under Nancy’s direction, Giving USA significantly expanded and revised its methodology for data gathering and analysis and increased sales by more than 100%.

A leader by nature, training and practice, Nancy graduated from Vanderbilt University, where she has also served as a Trustee. She holds a Master’s degree in Public and Private Management from Yale University. Nancy left her position with McKinsey & Company to join the firm in 1987 upon the death of her brother and firm founder, Arthur; and in the more than two decades since then, has expanded the range and reach of the firm’s work.

Attracted to solving big, complex problems for nonprofits, Nancy focuses on results – and delivers. Her skills in strategic and financial planning, governance, management and organizational issues, and all areas of fundraising has helped hundreds of clients, many of whom return for a second, third, or even fourth assignment.

A frequent speaker at Fundraising Day in New York, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Women in Development, The Foundation Center, New York University, and Bank of America, Nancy is also a skilled facilitator. She is much in demand by organizations seeking to build consensus and agreement on the action steps for change and growth.

Nancy continues to enjoy the challenge of her weekly commute from the family farmhouse on the Chesapeake Bay which she shares with her husband Bill, a marine biologist for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and a nature photographer. Daughter Sarah is a recent graduate of Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. As an undergraduate at NYU, she was editor-in-chief of the student newspaper and has since worked as a breaking news stringer for Newsday and as a free-lance writer with hyper-local news blog. Nathan is a recent graduate of UPenn, where he majored in Chinese and architecture. He is currently working in Shanghai.
